The sun shone at the Chairman’s Evening Summer Reception

Last week I hosted the Chairman’s annual Summer Reception in the beautiful grounds of Beaumanor Hall, in Woodhouse. This annual occasion is held by the Chairman on behalf of the County Council as a way of thanking the many organisations across Leicestershire who do so much to support the economic and social life of the county.

Nearly 300 guests had a most enjoyable evening and it was good to see civic dignitaries, faith, community and business leaders; representatives of the judiciary, the Lieutenancy, Armed Forces, sport, education, the arts, and the voluntary sector; all mixing together and networking in this informal setting.

It is one of the real joys of my year in office, being able to facilitate occasions such as this which bring people together who might not otherwise make contact. I am sure that old acquaintances were reunited and new contacts and friendships were forged.
